Each person's voice is a unique instrument. Deviation from the norm may result from any number of causes; physical or psychological, pollution or virus. Accurate diagnosis is essential in order to determine appropriate treatment.
At VOX CURA, diagnosis begins with a complete assessment of the voice, respiratory system and hearing. An advanced assessment of the vocal cords by videostroboscopy may follow. Once a problem is isolated, appropriate treatment can be implemented.
If necessary, a therapy program including voice rehabilitation and relaxation exercises is planned by our SLP.
Sometimes medical, surgical or psychological treatment may also be indicated.
As techniques for voice care have become more sophisticated, so has the need for a more multi-disciplinary approach.
For the professional, diagnosis by videostroboscopy is invaluable for the development of detailed
voice rehabilitation services or enhancement programs. The program be suited for each individual
professional is discussed during the two-hour videostroboscopy evolution by both the doctor and
voice pathologist to ensure the proper therapy approach. Therapy for the majority of vocal problems
are handled by our speech-language pathologist/voice therapist, or singing/voice coach, as well as a host
of other medical, chiropractic, naturopathic, and scientific consultants in related fields.
Specialized clinical services are available for people with vocal misuse and overuse syndromes, recurrent laryngitis, spasmodic dysphonia, vocal cord paralysis, the aging voice cancer of the vocal cord, scarred vocal cords, and benign vocal cord growths, such as nodules, cysts, granulomas, papillomas, and polyps.
